Information for Tuesday, February 9th, and Wednesday February 10th, Fair Housing Center's Housing Advocates Training/Welfare Policy Seminar in Ann Arbor MI.

Please note the Housing Advocates Training meeting time. Registration will begin at 8:00am, and the training will last from 8:30am-4:30pm.

Both sessions will be held at the United Way of Washtenaw County. The address is 2305 Platt Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. Here is a LINK to the interactive map on the United Way of Washtenaw County's website to help guide you there.

There is very limited parking on site. The United Way requests that visitors not park past the United Way building and use the Vineyard Church lot located immediately to the north of the United Way lot. In that lot, please do not park in the spaces directly along the front and side of the church building.

  • The first day of training will cover everything from illegal evictions to discrimination to questions about subsidized housing.  H.A.T. is designed for housing advocates from local community organizations (however, clients/consumers welcomed). The Fair Housing Center, Legal Services and Michigan Poverty Law Program will provide a participatory workshop for people at varying levels of knowledge and experience.
  • The second day of the training is the “Welfare Policy Seminar”. An attorney from the Michigan Poverty Law Program will provide an overview and update on rules regarding Medicaid, Food Stamps, Work First and FIP.
